In Persepolis there is a part where Marjane and her family are celebrating the birth of her new baby cousin and every ones having a good time. then all of a sudden sirens were going off and people were running all over the place. even Marjane's aunt, the mother of the baby they were celebrating for, but when she was about to run she left the baby with Marjane and Marjane was there with the baby in her arms. Marjane felt like a mother actually abandoned her baby and ran for her life instead of her child, since that day Marjane had doubts about maternal instincts.
