Other than Marjane in Persepolis, I found Anoosh as another perculiar character. Anoosh is not neccessarily a "strange" character persay...but a normal person with a odd way of living. What I found mostly strange about it is how he delt with all his hardships. Even before death he wanted to see a little girl whom he had really only spoken with for a short time. I can't truly understand how he could grow so attached to Marjane and spend his final momments with her instead of his mother or siblings. On page 69 even called Marjane, "the Star of my life". Even though he cameo in the book was very short lived he was able to get kinda attached so you could understand that feeling. One of the most tragic parts of the book is seeing his picture in the newspaper with the headline reading "Russian Spy executed." If I were the main character in persepolis I would probably get attached to Anoosh because of his stories as well. I have my own uncle that tells all of his stories and it makes u feel like you were there as it was happening and in a way giving you more life experiences. After hearing about his death I would probably feel a lot less motivated to fight myself for my people to being afraid of death. I don't think I could use him as a way I could model my self after. Not because he wasnt brave or anything but I think in death we are all a little reluctant to jump in. Even in all that I would want to one day be as brave as him and love something enough to put my life on the line for it. He could be useed as inspiration.
No on is Persepolis has a mental illness or anything that affects them in everyday life, but Marjanes mother was once harrased for not wearing her veil and that treatment made her sick for a few days. she laid in bed and didn't talk for weeks until she finally was able to realize that she must do it for her family. I on the other hand have a person who deals with being mentally challenged eveyday. For my entire 18 years of living my household has always consisted of a dog, My mom, dad, two brothers, and my Cousin. My cousin is mentally challenged and is 46 years old. Even though she can only do so much she still has acted like a nanny to me for my entire life. When I was a kid she would walk to me to and from school, make me breakfast, buy me lunch, go to the store for me, and even watch cartoons with me. She may still think im 15 and haven't changed at all but she still cares and she shows it.
