Bryan:
In the real world... todays world, we live by strict rules yet our own rules at the same time. Were constantly being fined for something. The government is trying to make money 1 way or another. If you dont pay a ticket on time the price rises, if you drive over the white line of the intersection the slighest bit you are fined, if you head light has blown out you are fined, if your grass is not cut you are fined. It makes no sense that everything we base our actions off of we can have to pay. Yet people do their own, we set our own rules in a way. What ever we feel is what we do, we set the boundry line. In Persepolis Marjane is not allowed to do alot. Her parents and cultural beliefs sets their rules of what they can do. For example on page 82 MArjane is having a conversation with her parents with her feet on the taables and says "WE HAVE TO BOMB BAGDAD!". Angrily her mother tells her to take her feet off the table because its impolite. I felt she did and didnt know what she was talking about because of her young age. I think our enviroment can change what they think is right or wrong by their conscience. If you have to wonder if it is wrong or not, or will you get in trouble im pretty sure its wrong.
Robert:
I am also reading persepolis and I agree that Marjanes parents have changed. On page 82 and 83 her parents are talking about how their soliders are weak now and how theyv'e given up. A commerical comes on very inspiritional song "The Iranian National Anthem". Marjanes tells her father to have hope and not to give up but he walks away careless. She then grabs the radio saying "listen father, our troops are still strong", but he continues to walk away saying "You cant always believe what they say". I think no matter what you need to stand strong for your country even if they fall.
