Robert and Sarah-
I am also reading Persepolis and my character fears the world around her. There's a war going on and of course all they want to do is fight, fight, fight. Their country isn't doing so good with this war which is why her parents and other in the community want to give up on the war. On page 71 her mother tells her "Marji go to the basement were being bombed". Its a shame you can even relax and feel safe in your home even with the door locked. of course that would scare someone, 1 moment your cooking dinner for your family then BOOM!!!! you living room and 1 side of the house is blown off due to a bomb. Their situation is getting worse because their loosing not winning. On page 84 a moment of happiness comes when they began to win and Marjane states "We got them where it hurts". It feels good to win every now and then. On page 116 Marjanes says in her statement "it makes her sick...all the fighting from war when we all would've avoided it but they avoided peace. I agree with her, people think fighting is the answer to everything when its not. When i walk outside my house and go into the world I am very cautious.



There are a lot of crazy people in the world and you never know whats going to happen. Someone can set their goal of the day to be blowing up a bank or killing an innocent and that innocent can be you. We are all connected in this violent world. Some people are trying to make it better, some people are trying to destroy it. When we make decisions we must choose they carefully. In Persepolis someone made a silly decision and made someone else mad which caused the war.
