Arie; Yes there is a difference between implicit and explicit. In the book "Persepolis" Marjane expriences violence in her community due to the Iranian revolution. One particular incident was when a movie theatre was purposely burnt down with the doors locked from the outside so no one could get out (p. 14). The police were there but didnt let anyone go and try to save the ose who were trapped in, then attacked the bystanders. If that was not bad enough the fire department didnt arrive until forty minutes later. There were 400 victims and " The Shah" blamed the fire on a religous goru but everyone knew it was his doing. Another violent act is located on page 18. This situation is when the citizens were protesting against the king, which they did everyday. When things started getting out of hand, the army shot at the crowds of people, and they threw stones back but we all know stones are no match for guns!
Mark; Well, personally i rarely see violence on a everyday basis but when i do. I see people getting killed on tv or people fighting or arguing in the public. Facebook has a lot of violence also. Watching the news you see people dying everyday, from ababys to older people. They're getting murdered and raped and etc. I like the violence on the movies because its always being told from a characters point of view. So when they do something violent most people usually like it because thats who the movie is about. But i know how to seperate entertainment from liofe because unlike on movies, you dont have a stunt-double , you dont always win or male it out how they you would think. Life is a mystery, you never know what the day will bring, but in entertainment they have a set script to follow.
