I'm a quarter of the way through the book and I found out something very common about the african american race. LeAlan has never seen his father, doesn't surprise me because i never seen mine either. LeAlan has this interview with his mama Tootchie Jones. Tootchie seen Jack Johnson (LeAlan's) alleged father, and told him that LeAlan was his son and he drove off. Years later Tootchie seen Jack again and said "did i ever tell you, you had a son?" Jack Johnson said no and hit the gas and Tootchie never heard nor seen from him since then. What is weird about this whole situation is that LeAlan, Tootchie and Jack dont have any regard for each other. I'm in this same situation with my mama and my daddy, but at least me and my mama care about this love triangle, my father just be too drunk to be apart of it. I never seen him and this book caused me to take a step back and finally look from the outside in.
