Our America: Day 2 Danielle
The characters LeAlan Jones and Lloyd Newman use the insider dynamic. In the book Our America they both live on the south side of Chicago in the projects of Ida b. Wells. In the inside dynamic they tell the story of their life growing up in the ghetto and many events that happen there. On the outsider dynamic a reporter, David Isay listens to the story of these two boys and publishes their words into a book. The material of the book can be explicit due to the nature of the stories LeAlan and Lloyed tell. However it can also be implicit because they mostly never describe what happens in detail. For example, on page 33 of Our America, LeAlan says "When I was ten I knew where drugs came from. I knew about every different kin of gun. I knew about sex. I was a kid in age but my mind had the reality of a grown-up, 'cause I seen these things every day!". It's explicit because of the nature of what he said which implies that he's familiar with drugs, guns, and sex. However it's implicit because he doesn't actually go into detail by describing what he knows about where the drugs come from or what kind of weapons or sex.
