Mark:
While Reading through Persepolis, I found my childhood and Marjane's childhood to be much different. Marjane lived in a time of revolution which is completely opposite of the "peaceful" era I have been apart of. Its kinda odd to what it was like when crazy violence based on government and such is happening all the time. Even with as much violence around my house I never acutally am involved or really affected by it. Marjane deals with it in an odd way aswell, I would think I would be scared and panic but its weird that she seems to take it like its normal. Her conversations with God were also a bit weird to me due to the fact that I never really embraced my faith more than just prayers ever now and then. She also went to an highly religious and seperated school which would seem even extreme to me thinking of what school I went to.
I think the weirdest thing for me recently was being a track and field captain. I had never been in a authroative postion or even as a role model to others so it was odd to me to be thrown in and have to step up. I don't really talk much so it was tough for me to even be able to encourage others or give advice. It was just weird to have more responsiblity then just your own. I never got used to it either....and I don't think anyone else did seeing as how I was the smallest guy on the team.
Arie:
From my reading of persoples it was alot of violence such as fights in the the middle of streets, invading of homes, and even buring of a bunch of people in a building. Marjane, the author, didnt get really scared either! she cried a few times but fo rthe most part she took it all in and was able to keep a positive attitude throughout. She wanted to better the world and didn't let all the craziness scare her. She was still a little girl and knew that she had to grow up but could still stay a kid. Implcit violence is more like bullying in schools while explicit would be like wars and stuff.
I see violence every so often really...well real life violence that is...I see it on the tv and computer all the time. I find that violence can be entertainment at any time as long as it doesn't affect me or its in like really bad taste...like hitting a defensive kid isnt funny or entertaining at all but some dude tripping can be...as long as he didnt like hurt himself really bad. I don't get entertained by others pain..I know what going to far is and I try to stay away from most of it.
For example last year at my school when this guy got punched by some other dude.
